The Sango Kaku is an upright Japanese Maple with a vase shape. Its name "Coral Bark" gives reference to its exposed pink bark, which is very visible in a winter landscape. Fern-like green leaves are enhanced with the addition of reddish-purple flowers in the spring. Leaves turn gold in the fall. Japanese Maple trees are not recommended for the middle of a front yard as they need to be protected from the wind.
