Please check back in September for a full schedule of events.
Read on below for more information on our visitors!
Alpaca Network of New York
The Alpaca Network of New York is a group of four farms local to the Rochester area that came together to share in "their passion for these animals and the desire to help others become successful in the alpaca lifestyle". Members include these four area farms: Hemlock Hills Alpacas, Lazy Acre Alpacas, Outback Alpacas, and Sixth Day Farm.
Find more information about the Alpaca Network on their website.
Animal Service League
Ever since it was founded in 1953, the Animal Service League has been concerned with the treatment and welfare of domestic animals in the Rochester area. ASL is a no-kill animal rescue, meaning that no animal they house is ever destroyed due to lack of a permanent home. For more information about the Animal Service League, or to view their available animals, please visit their website.
Castle Race Car
Always a hit with the kids, we will have the local Castle company Nascar race car on display! This year it also features new graphics. Find more information about the Castle company on their website.
Freckles & Friends
You may remember our friend Freckles from our Holiday events last December. She is back again, this time with more clown friends, more balloons and more face painting designs! You will be astonished at the speed in which Freckles and her friends work to design a masterpiece on your face! Three clowns each weekend, rotating between 15 clowns total - lots of new faces!
Gates Fire, Ambulance & Police Cars
Many kids dream of growing up to be a Fire Fighter, EMT or Policeman - your child might even be dressing up as one for Halloween this year! Bring them along to meet one of their idols, and even get to sit in the back of a police cruiser, or the driver's seat of a fire truck! Please see their websites for more information on the Fire Department, Ambulance or Police Department.
Gates Parks & Recreation Department
This year we are proud to partner up with the Gates Parks & Recreation Department, who will be presenting our Costume Contest on October 29th. All children who come dressed in costume and participate in the contest have a chance to win one of four bicycles with a helmet (one for each of four age groups). For more information on the Gates Parks & Recreation Department, please visit their website.
G.R.A.S.P.
Greece Residents Assisting Stray Pets (G.R.A.S.P.) is a local non-profit pet rescue organization that is a little different - they do not have any centralized shelter location to house their adoptable animals. G.R.A.S.P. relies solely on volunteer foster families to care for the animals they have available for adoption, until they can find them a forever home. For more information on G.R.A.S.P., or to become a foster, please visit their website.
Greyhound Adoption
Another favorite area rescue group, the Greyhound Adoption of Greater Rochester is a racing neutral non-profit group. They believe that every retired greyhound deserves a loving forever home. With the help of donations and volunteers, they match each available home with an adoptable dog, then provide support and guidance in the car of each dog they adopt out. For more information on Greyhound Adoption, please visit their website.
Holy Cow Cookie Co.
Holy Cow! That's one big cookie! 2010 was Holy Cow Cookie's first year at our Fall events, and they were a *big* hit. Delicious and good looking, a great combination!
Lugia's Ice Cream on Wheels
Everything you love about Lugia's great tasting ice cream, right here at the Garden Factory! One of Lugia's trucks - "Hot Fudge", "Sprinkles" or "Baby Twist" will be on site every weekend to serve you! Find more information on their website.
Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League
MAGDRL is a non-profit rescue group with volunteers all over the East coast. They take in Danes and Dane mixes that families can no longer care for, orphaned Danes from shelters, and injured Danes found on the street. They nurse them back to health if necessary, and find them a suitable home. They have a system in place after many years of experience to make sure each animal finds the right home. For more information on the MAGDRL, please visit their website.
Mini Arks Rare & Exotic Animals
One of our favorite parts of hosting our Fall Family Fun activities is to expose the community to new and exciting animals they have never seen - or maybe never even heard of! This year we will have Sally joining us from Mini Arks. If you joined us in 2010, you know what a hit the mini petting area was - kids can get up close and personal with rabbits, chicks and guinea pigs. Other animals may include a Binturong, a Patagonian Cavy, a baby Wallaby, a baby Coatimundi, a Toucan, and many others we've never heard of! Plus for Halloween we will have some creepy crawlies such as tarantulas, scorpions, snakes, and rats!
Northeast Boston Terrier Rescue
Who can resist the face of a little Boston Terrier? Not the folks at NEBTR! This will be their first year joining us for our Fall events, and we can't wait to meet them! Check them out and give them a warm welcome! We are thrilled to have another non-profit animal rescue join us. For more information about this group, please see their website.
NYS Police Rollover Demonstration
The NYS Police Rollover demonstration can be a real eye-opener for stubborn kids (or adults!) who refuse to buckle up. Wearing your seatbelt in a moving vehicle is the law, and could save your life. The Rollover Simulator demonstrates what happens in a rollover accident, using life-sized dummies to show how much safer you really are when wearing a seatbelt.
Phil with Sammy the Parrot
Phil is a local resident of Gates, with a love for birds. You may have seen him taking his parrot Sammy for a walk down Hinchey Road! Every year Phil and his wife bring Sammy (as well as a few other feathered friends) to meet the families that come to our Fall events. Learn about birds, chat with Sammy, and even get a chance to hold him on your arm!
Rochester Police Department Safe Child Program
Rochester Police Department will be joining us with Operation Safe Child. "Statistics show that 34 percent of parents in the United States do not know their child's exact height, weight and eye color." Take a few minutes to get a Safe Child card with this info, along with digital fingerprints. For more information about this program, please see the City of Rochester's website.
Tuscan Wood Fired Pizza Catering
Come meet "Tony Tomatoes" as he joins us with his custom built, brick pizza oven ready to prepare delicious wood fired pizzas! Kids will have a chance to prepare their own pizza with toppings of their choice for a nominal fee. We can't wait! Check out Tony's website for Facebook page for more information. |
